The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is an intricate network of receptors located throughout the body of all humans and animals. It regulates all bodily processes such as sleep, mood, digestion, memory, hormones, and reduction of pain and promotes and restores optimal balance throughout the body and brain, known as “homeostasis.” The ECS was discovered in the early 1980s, but evidence indicates that some version of it has existed in all vertebrates for at least 600 million years, suggesting that these receptors play a crucial role in the functioning of life.

The two major cannabinoid receptors are CB1 and CB2. CB1 receptors are most abundant in the brain and central nervous system. CB2 receptors are found primarily in the gastrointestinal tract and immune system; however, both are found throughout the body.

Endocannabinoids are molecules that are produced naturally by cells in the body (“endo” means “within,” as in within the body) that bind to and activate cannabinoid receptors. When the body does not produce enough endocannabinoids or cannot regulate them properly, we are more susceptible to illness.

Our Full Spectrum Hemp & Mushroom Soft Chews and Mighty Mojo Full Spectrum Hemp & Mushroom Oil contain water soluble hemp. Water soluble means it is water “miscible” or “hydrophilic” meaning it’s attracted to water. Since our bodies are comprised of mostly water, this allows for greater absorption and availability as it travels through the body. Traditional hemp oil repels water and therefore, loses some of its effectiveness as it is absorbed.

Traditional hemp oil is best given on an empty stomach and away from food. This superior water soluble technology allows for 2-3 times greater absorption and bioavailability for optimal results. It works well on a full or empty stomach and can be given with food.
